Depending on whether you plan to travel around before the wedding or go straight to the venue, there are various options to consider between taking a train or renting a car.Here’s a general overview of how you can make the trip:
Flights
International Flights to France (or Switzerland)
The most convenient option is to fly into either Lyon-Saint Exupéry (LYS), Geneva International Airport (GVA), or Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), as all three are well-connected to the French Alps and the wedding venue. Lyon and Geneva are the closest options for those who want to begin their trip as close as possible to the venue, while Paris is the farthest, ideal for anyone planning to explore Paris & France first beforehand.

We recommend flying into Geneva International Airport and staying in Annecy for a few days before the ceremony. Annecy is a beautiful lakeside town in France where we currently live, located just 40 minutes from Geneva. It offers plenty of accommodation options and activities. From Annecy, you can easily rent a car or take a bus to reach the venue.
From Geneva to Annecy:
Regular trains and buses are available from Geneva Airport or the Geneva city center to Annecy (approx. 40 mins).
You can also rent a car from Geneva, but you will need to pay Swiss highway tolls to drive to France, so renting a car from Annecy is recommended.
From Annecy to the Venue:
Annecy is about 1 hour 15 mins away from the wedding venue by car, and likely the most convenient option for most people travelling the day of.
We recommend flying into Geneva International Airport and staying in Annecy for a few days before the ceremony. Lyon is known as France’s gastronomic capital and offers fantastic dining and sightseeing.
We lived in Lyon for almost two years, so feel free to ask for recommendations!

From Paris to Chambéry:
Take a TGV train from Paris Gare de Lyon to Chambéry-Challes-les-Eaux (approx. 3 hours).
From Chambéry to the Venue:
The venue is about a 40-minute drive from Chambéry-Challes-les-Eaux station. You can either rent a car, use a taxi, or consider carpooling with other guests.

Visa Info
From 2025, foreigners traveling to the Europe will need to apply for ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). This is a new electronic travel authorization similar to the U.S ESTA and will be required for visa-free travelers.
How it works:
1. Apply online before your trip.
2. Pay a small fee (~€7).
3. Once approved, it’s valid for 3 years or until your passport expires.
This comes into effect sometime in early 2025, so i’ll update when there is more info!
